In May 2000 Chemco completed more than 445,000 man-hours on the electrical and electrical instrumentation installations for the Aurora Mine Phase 1, a "grass roots" mining project on behalf of Syncrude Canada. The power distribution included incoming 260 KV power transmission lines, switchyard, substation, and 80-megawatt onsite gas turbine generators. Onsite distribution was comprised of all requirements for 72KV, 15KV, 5KV and 600-volt power distribution. The scope also included electrical and electrical instrumentation installations for the material handling, hydrotransport, extraction, tailings, utilities power generators, operation/control center, wash bays and maintenance area. In addition Chemco constructed the Syncrude DB II Project consisting of the complete electrical and electrical instrumentation installation for Plant 37, a new vacuum unit, (largest is the world) within the existing operating Syncrude site. Also included were the complete E&I for the debottlenecking of approximately 12 of the existing plants. The scope involved the 15KV, 5KV and 600-volt power distribution requirements plus the installation of 80,000 feet of MI electric heat trace cable. Completion of the project included start-up and commissioning assistance to the plant operations personnel and engineers.
